As your coach, I expect athletes joining this program will trust and believe in me, my guidance, and my plan to prepare them the best they can be. In this class we will focus on: - Advanced footwork and blade work - Advanced bout strategies - Setting consistent goals - Advanced physical fitness - Understanding and execution of advanced fencing actions - Mental and psychological preparation for tournaments Requirements: - Must have USA Fencing Competitive membership - Must own personal full electric competitive fencing gear. - Fencers in this group are required to commit to their training and competition plan. - 3-4 training sessions a week: 2 group training sessions and 1-2 sessions of open floor fencing. - Must take private lessons. It is recommended for fencers on this level to attend at least two 20-minute private lessons per week. Minimum competition requirements: - Competitive fencers need to consult their coach about the tournament schedule and attend the tournaments recommended by the coach. Required! - Attend at least one event a month making regional events your main priority. - Make the most effort to qualify for the summer nationals and make a commitment to attend if qualified. Teen fencers (13+ years old) can aim to participate in NACs and Junior Olympics. It is almost guaranteed one will qualify for the summer nationals if they only attend most of the regional events. Achieving real results is a long process and requires patience and hard work. It takes a village to grow successful athletes so parents are expected to actively participate and support their fencers. Parents need to encourage and believe in their athletes in the first place. Believe they are capable of being great and achieving their goals.
